Today, we woke up at the Gribble Ranch to Halie and her father, Bee, in quite a stir to get moving. Halie's mom, Shari, and I relaxingly followed them out to the Chevy Tahoe to begin the 3.25-drive from Chambers, NE to Omaha, NE.

The drive was spent with some expected backseat driving by both Halie and Shari. That, combined with driving directly east into the sun for three hours, made for quite the drive for Bee and I. We stopped in Snyder for gas station snacks, and Ethan forgot to lock the bathroom. Some guy stormed in needing to sit down for his business while Ethan was in mid-stream! He let out a yell and finished and fast as he could before running a back out to the Chevy Tahoe where everyone was waiting.

Ethan eats everything. He ate all his snacks before anyone could ask for a bite of his cookie. He then asked if Bee was gonna eat the rest of his corn nuts, and Bee gave in, knowing it'd be awhile before he'd see Ethan, the human garbage disposal, again.

On arrival to the Omaha Airport, we stopped in the cellphone parking lot where we met Kacie, Halie's sister. There was nobody in the driver's seat, but we then discovered she was sitting in the back feeding baby Norah, as we pulled in to park.

We enjoyed all getting to hold baby Norah again. She was warm from the cool wind a fluffy checkered white and beige blanket. Her hands were folded in a praying fashion while she was peaceful and smiling. After getting our turns with Norah - Halie, Shari, Bee, Kacie and I took some photos. Kacie then said her goodbyes to us and we all hugged.

Bee and Shari then drove Halie and I down the way to the car dropoff for American Airlines. There was much construction, so we were dropped off under a parking garage. We all did our hugs and goodbyes.

Sitting in the Airport terminal now, and excited to find out if we'll see any of the eclipse during the flight or in Chicago.

Arrived at O'Hare. Everyone is gawking out the windows - some with the eclipse glasses and others just staring right up at it or looking at it through their phones. The sun was supposed to be 94% covered here, but you wouldn't even notice the sky getting darker.

Arrived at the hotel. Figured out our Garmin satellite phone, made calls to family and friends, and we both enjoyed a Hagen Daaz ice cream cone.

Ethan and Halie's hotel rules applied as normal. We always get separate queen beds. The Indian guy at the hotel front desk looked at us funny with that request, but our sleep is more important than anything! Ethan moves all over the bed at night, and Halie snores loud with her mouth wide open. So yes, separate beds a MUST!

P.S. - Add funny story about Bee getting numerous texts after being forced into a Shell Gas rewards program at the convenience mart in Snyder.
